What Should I Do If The Excavator Engine Lacks Water?

2

Excavators will find a strange phenomenon after driving for a long time, no matter spring, summer, fall or winter, the water tank is often short of water, and if you add water today, it will be short of water tomorrow. This seems to be a small problem that will not hinder normal work and can be ignored. But the water tank often lack of water, the excavator has a great impact, need to be able dealt with in a timely manner.

1. The role of the water tank

Engine cooling water-cooled and air-cooled two ways, the engine water-cooled cooling system mainly has a water pump, radiator, cooling fan, sub-tank, thermostat, engine body, cylinder head, water jacket and other parts of the composition. The main function of the water tank is to dissipate heat, which is an important part of the engine cooling system.

When the engine temperature is too high, the thermostat opens, and through the water pump and fan, the coolant cools in the radiator, and the cooled coolant enters into the water jacket again, and the cycle continues to realize the cooling of the engine.

2. Effects of water shortage in the water tank

It is easy cause high temperature of the engine, and the long-term lack of water in the water tank indicates that the cooling system is leaking, and the cylinder gasket has the phenomenon of punch. A reduction in engine cooling performance and a decrease in the lubrication quality of parts will increase wear and tear and eventually lead to piston ring seizure and cylinder pulling.

3. Where to check after finding water shortage

When the temperature of the liquid in the cooling system rises, the liquid expands, resulting in an increase in pressure. The tank cover is the only outlet for releasing the pressure, so the setting of the spring on the lid of the tank cover determines the maximum pressure of the cooling system. Generally when the tank cap pressure is around one kilogram, the tank cap pressure valve will be flushed open, allowing the coolant to flow out of the system.

The coolant enters the bottom of the sub-tank through an overflow tube. This device keeps air out of the system. When the tank cools, a vacuum is created in the cooling system, which causes a water shortage when water is reabsorbed from the bottom of the sub-tank to fill the water that has been discharged.

Tip: the engine tank must be filled with regular antifreeze, do not add tap water or pure water, because even clean water does not have anti-corrosion and anti-rust function, after a period of time will corrode the engine and the tank, with the expansion of the degree of damage to the dress will directly cause engine overheating problem.
