What Is A Excavator Track Frame

 1

The track frame is the “backbone”(frame) of the chassis and supports: track assembly, rollers, front idlers, recoil springs and adjusting mechanism. Typically, there are two track frames on the left and right sides of a unit. It is made of box steel, crossed and lashed with welded steel plates.

Track carrier are classified into two types according to the way they are mounted on the main frame:

1. Rigid mounting

As the name implies, the track frame is rigidly mounted to the main frame. This type of mounting is usually installed in small installations. Any shock or vibration to the chassis is also absorbed by the mainframe and vice versa.

2. Pivot Mounting

In contrast to the previous type of mounting, the pivot mounting allows the track frame to move independently. This type of mounting is usually usually used for medium and large units.

During routine maintenance, the track frame and other undercarriage components should be thoroughly inspected periodically for abnormal wear, oil leakage from rollers or idlers, misalignment, looseness, missing parts, etc. The track frame and other undercarriage components should be thoroughly inspected periodically for abnormal wear, oil leakage from rollers or idlers, misalignment, loose parts, and missing parts. Any minor abnormalities must be dealt with immediately to avoid further damage and loss.
