The fuel consumption of excavators is a big item of daily cost expenditure, and reducing fuel consumption not only consumes to reduce carbon dioxide emission, but also saves operation cost.
1. Working Mode and Throttle Gear Selection
LiuGong E-series excavators consist of 6 work models and 12 throttle gears, with 12 throttle gear to choose from in each work mode, and different throttle gears correspond to different engine speeds. Customers can choose suitable working model and throttle gears according to different working conditions.
Working models:
P — Heavy duty mode, suitable for heavy duty working condition with priority efficiency. The engine speed is set higher and the pump power is set higher.
E — Economy mode, suitable for general operations where fuel consumption is prioritized. The engine speed is lower and the pump power setting is smaller.
F — Fine mode, suitable for fine-motion operations where fuel consumption is prioritized. The engine speed is lower and the pump power setting is smaller.
L — Lifting mode, suitable for lifting material operation. Engine speed is lower, pump power is set smaller, and the lifting flow limit and lifting overload alarm are increased.
B — Breaking hammer mode, suitable for breaking hammer operation. The engine speed is lower, the pump power is set smaller, and the flow rate adjustment of attachment device is increased.
ATT — Attachment mode, suitable for hydraulic parts, grapple and other attachments(attachment high flow) operation. The engine speed is set higher, the pump power is set higher, and the flow rate adjustment of the attachment is increased.
2. Fuel Saving Operations
1. Try to avoid doing ineffective work: Minimize the following ineffective actions to avoid wasting fuel: long idling time, excess slewing, excavator working surface is too high or too low, etc. Customers should choose the appropriate working method according to the construction site.
2. Avoid unnecessary idling: Idling is necessary for 5 minutes after the engine starts and before it stops, but prolonged idling is a waste of fuel. Excavators in the idle hydraulic system is still hydraulic oil circulation, such as 22 tons of excavators per hour idle still consume about 4-5 liters of fuel. Try to avoid prolonged idling of the excavator during non-operating hours, and please turn off the engine in time.
3. Avoid try to keep the hydraulic system in an overflow state for a long time: When the digging load is too big, the hydraulic system is still in an overflow state even id you always pull the handle to keep the bucket still. When the hydraulic system is overflowing, not only can you not complete the job, but you will consume more fuel. When the load increases, do not force the operation to cause the hydraulic system to overflow, but reduce the load appropriately for smooth operation.
4. As far as possible to use the appropriate low-speed work: The same excavation and loading operations, the engine low-speed work, compare with the engine’s maximum throttle work, fuel consumption decreased significantly.
5. Practice elevated digging operations: Excavator work platforms are most effective when they are the same height or slightly higher than trucks
1. Lower excavator operation: Lower excavator operation starts the excavation operation from the bottom of the working platform, the whole process is long, the movement distance of the small arm and the big arm is long, and the fuel efficiency is low.
2. Upper excavator operation: Upper excavator operation is the excavation method of digging the upper part first and then digging the lower part, the whole process is short time and fuel efficiency is high. Upper excavator and excavator low operation compared to the unit of time, the fuel consumption is reduced, the cycle is 12% faster, the unit of time in 6% if the work, fuel efficiency improved by 8%.
6. Try to avoid doing ineffective work: When loading operation, if the slewing angle is large, then the movement of the load is large and the cycle time increases, and if the angle is small, then the cycle time of loading is less, the work volume per unit time increases, and the fuel efficiency improves. Try to place the truck as close to the excavator as possible.
7. Reduce engine speed when walking: Engine speed tells then walk faster, fuel consumption is also more. Low engine speed walking than high speed walking fuel efficiency is better: engine speed down about 10%, speed down about 12%, but fuel consumption down about 16%, walking fuel efficiency increased by 20%.
8. All at 90°:When the bucket cylinder and rocker, bucket cylinder and bucket rod are all at 90°, each cylinder pushes the digging force the most, to use the angle effectively to improve work efficiency.
9. Bucket lever digging range: At the beginning of digging, do not extend the bucket lever to the maximum range of action, from about 80% to start the best results. In the digging operation, should try to ensure that the bucket bar in the far side of the 45° to 30° inside the angle range of action, with the change of digging depth, the bucket bar digging range is slightly different, but should be roughly in the range of operation of the bucket bar, and should not be operated to the end of the stroke of the cylinder.
10. Reasonable trenching operation: First digging the two sides of the trench, and then digging the middle part, so that when digging the middle of the force is small, low fuel consumption.
11. Adopt the way of digging the trench in layers: The small the digging depth, the better the economy when digging. Digging deep pits, try to use layered digging method, divided into the upper, middle and lower three layers of digging, if a one-time digging from the bottom to the top, first of all, the role of the scope of the increase, and secondly, the power of the excavator because of the increase in the scope of the reduction, and ultimately both reduce the efficiency of the work, but also increase the fuel consumption.
12. Bucket selection and reinforcement: Select the corresponding type of bucket for the model and working conditions, and try to avoid additional reinforcement to improve working efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, mismatched buckets and additional reinforcement will lead to fuel consumption increase by more than 10%. According to the working conditions, choose the appropriate bucket capacity, bucket type and bucket teeth.
