In general, there are a range of bucket size options available for different sized excavators. For small excavators, bucket sizes range from a dedicated small 6” bucket to a medium sized 36” bucket, noting that a particular bucket size may be designed for grading and not for other types of work.
In order to accurately match the weight of an excavator to the size of the bucket, a specialized excavator bucket size matching chart is provided below:
• Machines up to 0.75 tons: 6-inch to 24-inch width buckets are recommended, or choose a 30-inch grading bucket
• 1 to 1.9 ton machines: 6” to 24” bucket widths recommended, expandable to 36” to 39” for graded buckets.
• 2-ton to 3.5-ton machines: Recommended bucket widths are 9” to 30”, or 48” for grading buckets.
• 4-ton machines: Bucket widths from 12 inches to 36 inches are available, and 60-inch graded buckets are supported.
